Q. 'In what year did you start your business? Tell us about your company history?
A. We are a new business, started in 2012, venturing into the world of owning and operating a retail apothecary and cafe. We love being an active part of our community and especially from the herbal community. We value building relationships and strengthening our community...even our internet community. Growing and empowering ourselves with herbs and the multitudes of goodies that can come of herbs.
Q. What type of business do you operate — what do you sell, or what services do you provide and to whom?
A. We are an online herbal apothecary, offering organic herbal bodycare, tinctures, herbal first aid ingredients and so much more.
Check out our Ayurvedic Alchemy product line, made using the spagyrics method, makes these medicines even more powerful than most medicines. We marry the western, ayurvedic and spagyric schools of thought to create medicine that is energetically therapeutic while encompassing the folkroots simplicity and ancient ayurvedic therapies. We nourish the whole individual person, not just the symptom.
We also offer placenta encapsulation, a sacred tradition that nourishes and rejuvenates that mother after depleting many reserves in the honored rite of passage of giving birth and creating life from the sacred womb.
Q. What led you to work in this field?
A. I was raised and taught by my grandmother, who showed me the ways of the Cherokee and Shoshone. When I was 25 and having my first child, I had changed my food and lifestyle to a more wholistic way of being. Wanting to bring my baby into a pure, peaceful, healthy environment led me to wanting to learn more about herbs. I learned from many wonderful herbalists, such as Rosemary Gladstar, Christopher Hobbs, Cascade Anderson Geller, Michael Tierra, Sheryl Tilgner, and many others in the Pacific Northwest.
Q. What is the goal of your business at an ecological level, what are you trying to achieve?
A. While we focus on serving our local community, we do our best to ensure our footprint is minimal. We encourage our customers to bring in their re-usable containers and in exchange a discount is given. We purchase as bulk as we are able, to minimize packaging and then re-use it for shipping out our products, which is why our packaging will not be branded and may have signs of previous use. We hope each container of product that you receive from us will be re-used in some way. Thanks!
Q. What are your plans for the future of your company?
A. Our future goals are to grow our product line, while also offering guidance and education of the herbal wide world to our community. We will ensure traditional ways of using herbal medicine will be carried on, so that our children and theirs will know the herbal ways of our great ancestors.
