Q. How long have you been in business? Tell us about your company history?
A. Fairwind has been in business since 2000. Fairwind is driven by a passion for fair trading terms for all partners in the supply chain, as well as concern for the environment and a belief that everyone can make a difference. Here at Fairwind we believe in trade, not aid, and that ethical shopping can help to create the changes needed to make lives better for millions of skilled artisans around the world.
Q. What type of business do you operate — what do you sell, or what services do you provide and to whom?
A. Fairwind sells online an exceptional range of fair trade gifts for the home as well as fair trade jewellery, fair trade games and toys and fair trade journals and stationery. Fairwind has been trading since 2000 selling high quality and highly desirable fair trade gifts with outstanding customer service. We offer a free gift service and no quiblle returns policy.
Q. What led you to work in this field?
A. An interest in fair trade and the injustices of international trade.
Q. What is the goal of your business at an ecological level, what are you trying to achieve?
A. At Fairwind we believe that fair trade relationships with suppliers in developing countries will help ensure the sustainable development of these countries. By ensuring that the craftspeople receive fair and timely payments for their products we can help them invest in their businesses, communities and staff, thus changing lives for the better. By only using suppliers that follow fair trade principles, we can ensure that: The producers are paid enough to cover the costs of sustainable production and living and to invest in the development of their businesses, communities and staff. The producers receive payments in advance for raw materials when required. Long term business relationships are established that allow the producers to plan and use sustainable production practices. Working conditions are acceptable and that no child labour is used. Small producers receive support and assistance in gaining fair access to western markets.
Q. What are your plans for the future of your company?
A. To continue to grow and spread the word about fair trade.
