At Avilan™, all of our Storied Diamonds™ have been re-circulated from the existing world inventory, are sourced in the U.S.A and do not perpetuate violence, unethical labor practices, or environmental degradation as newly mined diamonds do. In 2010 Avilan sought out an independent 3rd party certification company, SCS Global Services, to track and trace our diamonds and by 2012 became accredited as the first Responsible Source for diamonds. Our aspiration is to create a community of like-minded artisans, retailers, and consumers dedicated to honoring the planet.

Q & A
Q. 'In what year did you start your business? Tell us about your company history?
A. When first learning about the lack of integrity associated with sourcing diamonds over two years ago, I was deeply troubled. I soon realized that direct tracing of these precious stones was more of a daunting task then I was fully aware of, as complete disclosure and transparency wasn’t available. Even “conflict free diamonds”, as termed by the Kimberley Process, do not ensure freedom from social exploitation nor do they address destruction to the ecosystem.
Q. What type of business do you operate — what do you sell, or what services do you provide and to whom?
A. Avilan is the only independent 3rd party certified wholesaler for buying and selling eco ethical recycled diamonds. Through SCS Global Services, we track and trace every diamond we buy and provide a diamond grading report verifying its authenticity. We go through an annual audit to affirm that all of our stones are responsibly sourced. We deal primarily with retailers, artisans, designers, and jewelry industry leaders.
Q. What led you to work in this field?
A. The company principals Avi and Ilan (hence the merged name "Avilan") have been in the diamond business for decades. VP of Sustainability and Operations Jana Hadany has always been a environmental advocate and in 2010 saw a chance to merge the two industries together. With SCS Global Services, she helped create a standard for recycled diamonds for two years before becoming accredited.
Q. What is the goal of your business at an ecological level, what are you trying to achieve?
A. Our aspiration is to create a community of like-minded artisans, retailers, and consumers dedicated to honoring the planet and its inhabitants without compromising the beauty and quality of luxury jewelry.
Q. What are your plans for the future of your company?
A. We plan to build our community, work with designers, provide ethically sourced stones to our current and potential accounts, and eventually serve as a general directory for finding eco minded entities.
