For and Against Wind Farms

Why not listen to the voices against inappropriate development of wind farms... What is appropriate development? Is visual impact and visual killing (birds & bats) by wind turbines stronger than the hidden killing of hundreds of thousands of people and birds around the world from air pollution by coal and oil? Not to mention the devastating present and future effects of global warming?! Is wind energy appropriate in all places as a reliable supplier or are we over-developing this source? Should governments do more for energy conservation, often a much cheaper solution but politically not beneficial one? And how many birds are really killed? How many birds are killed by cats, cars and conventional power plants that many of these anti-windfarm people use now? Will we personally give up some or much of our electricity use?
Unfortunately a lot of the information from these websites is obviously strongly biased and relies on incorrect data provided by emotional response or supported by some groups with financial interests. And the same can be said of people who strongly favor wind farms...
Unfortunately also, as usual, the loudest and most shouting comes from the people "against", while the majority is silently in favor of.
EcoBusinessLinks is located close to 3 windfarms with a total of about 70 wind generators of +1mW each. We have no problem whatsoever with the wind farms. Unfortunately one can still smell and see the exhaust fumes from the adjacent oil fired power plant, and can only wonder how many birds and people that will kill...

Possible solutions? Thorough impact studies, dialogue and income-sharing with local communities, promotion of small-scale and individual power generation and especially resource conservation?
